Col's Construction Blog

Hello! Welcome to my blog. My name is Col. I live in Perth and I have a passion for construction. I am pretty useless when it comes to construction work so I tend to leave it to the experts. However, I find that there is nothing more pleasing than seeing a team of construction workers complete a job. Over the years, I have hired many different types of construction worker and they have all taken the time to chat with me. During these conversations, I have learnt so pretty interesting things which I will be exploring on this blog. Enjoy!

Subdivision Development and How Civil Works Helps

Ethan Burton

As you begin to develop a new subdivision, you may find the need for civil works services. The most common services help determine the building structures and what sort of adjustments need to be made depending on the lay of the land area. What you may not think of are the services that can greatly benefit your subdivision and are most important after the homes are in place. Here are a few of those services and what you need to know about each one.

Waste Management Services

One of the aspects of civil works is to inspect and make changes to the waste management services of an area. They will look at the layout of the subdivision and determine the best methods of waste management to go to each home. They will also determine if there are issues with things like traffic flow or traffic being blocked when the waste management service is there. They will inform you if roads should be widened or if other plans for waste management should be put in place.

Drainage Inspections

Civil works can perform drainage inspections and checks to make sure that the water flows away from the subdivision during any amount of heavy or light rainfall. This flow will prevent water from flooding certain areas or causing drainage blocks. During the inspection, they will tell you if new guttering will be needed on homes, drainage ditches placed or if you will need to have new grates placed for drainage. They can also give you insight into what types of drainage will not detract from the curb appeal of the subdivision.

Safety Inspections

An area you may overlook concerns safety and wiring or plumbing. In some subdivisions, the electrical power, plumbing and other wiring would be aboveground. This can cause issues for safety with your residents and their children. One of the ways to avoid this is to have civil works inspect the area and to determine if underground options are ideal for your subdivision. If they are, the inspectors can discuss options with you that will benefit your development.

These are just a few of the services that civil works can provide to help your subdivision project. If you aren't sure what other services you may need, contact your local civil works department. They can perform a consultation and discuss options that will benefit your development project. They can also work with you during the early development of the projects as well.
